From Crisis to Calm®

The Program

FC2C is a comprehensive communication and decision-making training program developed from nearly 30 years in law enforcement, including 16 years as a crisis negotiator and service as the Division Coordinator of the New York State Police Crisis Negotiation Program. It is not a compliance checklist. It is a practical, principles-based framework for professionals who face difficult people in high-stakes environments.

What Makes FC2C Different

De-escalation is an outcome, not a script.

Most professionals are expected to manage high-stress encounters without training that reflects how people actually behave under pressure. Scripts fail. Generic compliance training fails. What works is a clear understanding of human behavior, a structured approach to communication, and the practiced ability to make sound decisions when the situation is anything but calm.

FC2C teaches professionals to recognize escalating behavior early, use communication to guide rather than force outcomes, and act decisively and defensibly when the window for influence has closed. The methodology draws on crisis negotiation, behavioral science, and decades of frontline experience, then translates directly into practical skills your team can use the next day.

That is why we customize every training to your organization. The people your team encounters, the environment they work in, and the risks they carry are not generic, and your training should not be either.

Why It Matters

What traditional training gets wrong.

Compliance-focused conflict training produces compliance-focused results, which means it fails the moment a real person in crisis does not follow a script. FC2C is built differently, from the ground up, around how human behavior actually works under stress.

The Old Approach

  • Script-based responses that break down the moment the encounter goes off-book.
  • Compliance-focused training that produces resistance rather than cooperation.
  • Generic content not tailored to your industry, your team, or your risk environment.
  • Box-checking that satisfies a mandate but does not change behavior in the field.
  • No structured framework for decision-making when communication is not working.

The FC2C Approach

  • Principles-based training that works across nearly every encounter when you are not faced with an immediate threat.
  • Communication strategies grounded in behavioral science and crisis negotiation practice.
  • Every session customized to your organization, your sector, and your specific risk profile.
  • Scenario-based learning that builds real skill, not just familiarity with a policy.
  • A complete framework, including clear guidance on when and how to act when influence has run its course.
At the Heart of FC2C

Professional Sincerity®

Professional Sincerity® is the ethical and behavioral standard that runs through every element of FC2C. It is the difference between someone that talks and a professional that connects, and in a difficult encounter, that difference determines outcomes.

People in crisis detect inauthenticity immediately. Professional Sincerity is the quality of presence that makes every other skill in FC2C work. It is taught, practiced, and demonstrated, not assumed.

"One consistent approach: safety through awareness, influence, and Professional Sincerity. Better Communication. Safer Outcomes."

From Crisis to Calm®

Training Outcomes

What your team walks away with.

FC2C delivers measurable, practical skills. Participants leave with tools they can apply immediately in the field.

Situational Awareness

The ability to read a situation accurately, identifying behavioral cues, emotional states, and escalation indicators before they become costly incidents.

Influence over Control

Communication skills that guide behavior rather than demand it, reducing resistance, building cooperation, and creating safer outcomes for everyone in the encounter.

Self-Regulation Under Pressure

Practical tools for managing stress response in real time so professionals can project calm and make sound decisions when the situation demands it most.

A Framework for Decisions

A structured, field-ready decision-making process for moving through a difficult encounter from initial contact through resolution, including when communication is no longer the right tool.

Trust and Credibility

The professional presence and communication discipline that builds public trust, supports organizational reputation, and reduces complaints and liability over time.

Ethical Influence

The standard of Professional Sincerity, authentic and purposeful communication that guides behavior toward safe outcomes without manipulation, coercion, or false promises.
